Spiders and the Night Watch...

“Last night a Night Watch patrol was attacked near the edge of The Nachtwald by a large group of spiders. The spiders displayed a surprisingly keen tactical sense that clearly did not resemble the random attacks of primal beasts. Though the spiders used the cover of the fog to launch a surprise attack on the guard, they were able to drive the horde back into the Nacht before any damage was done to the city. One of the Night Watch gave his life in the struggle and three more were wounded but are expected to survive with medical treatment.

All citizens are advised to never travel at night or alone, and that approaching The Nachtwald is exceedingly dangerous. Extra guards will be positioned around the city and are willing to escort those who must travel.”


The Rumors in Town…

“Good gossip spreads quickly and this was good gossip. It seemed almost too obvious now that someone was controlling the spiders, perhaps not only the spiders but the blinding fog and unforgiving cold. There was a sense of optimism about town, the people felt they could defeat a man. The Wald had never been defeated, at least as far as they knew.
There was more, and it was even better.

Rumor about town is that the Watchman who died started to hallucinate just before his death, that he tried to escape medical treatment and run for the Wald. When he was restrained to his bed he started to hallucinate again, this time he thought he was being attacked. He tried to defend himself from this invisible attack but to no avail, shortly after the struggle ended with the man’s death. Amidst the indiscernible screams one thing was undeniably clear. A name. Angriel Belthon.

These rumors are completely unsubstantiated as the Watchmen involved have not left the safety of the Keep yet…fact or fiction the town is talking.
