The Stonefault farm resided a few kilometers away from the Inn and town, but the sole survivor of the Stonefault namesake was rarely seen anymore. A once vibrant member of society, Beyori suddenly disappeared and was not to return for several months.
It had been the slow and loyal Mugs (Beyori's canine companion) that had been the cause of her initial disappearance. The dog must have discovered a scent, as he went wandering into the Nachtwald. No amount of desperate calls from his owner could bring him back so, Beyori made the foolish error of following him into the dark, evil woods.
It is unknown what happened, but it is known that the Stonefault farm remained abandoned for well over a year. Most assumed that the close proximity to the Nacht had finally done her in - 'she must have gone crazy', one guessed. And by the disheveled, starved and completely stoic appearance of the girl late one evening only added speculation. Her mousey-brown hair was uncombed, tangled beyond repair. Her eyes were simply 'haunted and disturbed'. She had an uncanny appetite that did not match her scrawny appearance. Even the dash of freckles across her nose failed to ignite some form of happiness in the girl's tired face.
